Waterloo Sunset

August 12th, 2012

I just took a break from a marathon Sunday afternoon writing session to learn that I just missed Ray Davies performing Waterloo Sunset at the Closing Ceremony of the Summer Olympics.

Years ago, my friend gave me an iPod with countless thousands of songs on it that had traveled the world with him. His name was engraved on the back. I loved it. I took long walks, listening to Waterloo Sunset over and over. And over and over.

As long as I gaze on Waterloo Sunset, I am in paradise.

I was with that same friend six years ago when I got the idea for the novel I am still writing today. The picture above is of me in my writing room from that time.
